About
The sixth largest island nation is New Zealand, which is located east of Australia in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. It’s made up of two main islands—the North Island and South Island—plus over 700 smaller islands. The land has glaciers, fjords, mountains, plains, subtropical forests, volcanic plateaus, and lots of coastline.
Features
New Zealand was the first country to give all adult women the right to vote. Raising livestock is a big deal, with at least 10 sheep for every person in the country. The kiwi is a bird, and people also refer to people from New Zealand as “kiwis.”
