History

The sign originates from the constellation Aries, which lies between Pisces in the west and Taurus in the east. Its symbol is a ram, inspired by Chrysomallus, the winged ram from Greek mythology who rescued Phrixus and Helle. The 1948 film The Sign of the Ram, starring Susan Peters, was named after Aries. The planet Mars rules this sign. In the Hindu solar calendar, it is known as Mesha.
